Barren County High School students may be selected to become a part of the Early College Magnet School. This program is for highly motivated and academically committed students looking to get a head start on their post-secondary curriculum. Requirements for admission to the Early College Magnet Program are: 3.25 cumulative GPA and all honors, AP and Dual credit courses. Magnet students must take a minimum of 4 AP courses before the end of their senior year. Students must also maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA to remain in good academic standing and receive the magnet distinction at graduation.

Honors

Barren County High School is proud to offer students a variety of honors level coursework. Honors courses have an accellerated curriculum and teaching style just above the grade-level requirement.

Dual Credit

Barren County High School, in partnership with post-secondary institutions, offers students the opportunity to earn dual credit in specific subject areas. This allows students to get a head start on their post-secondary curriculum which will provide them with credits towards their post-secondary graduation in addition to fulfilling their high school requirements.

AP

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses are also available to all Barren County Students, and are required for students who plan to complete the Magnet School program. AP courses are taught at the utmost accelleration with college-level emphasis. Students may pass the course to fulfill high school requirements, but must also pass the national exam with a specified score to recieve college credit.
