A B O U T   M E

My name is Avery Balasbas and these are some things about that would not be on a resume:

• I am Filipino and Chinese

• He/him/his

• I'm a student who flew under the radar for being a model minority

• I'm the first in my immediate family [and some extended] to get a master's degree

• I have a supportive family (parents & older brother) who have made many sacrifices for me to get here

• I have a small family of my loving partner and our puppy

• I love taking photos and videos of what's going on around me. 

• I play the piano, guitar, and drums. But I'm pretty mediocre at all three

• I love learning languages, but I'm not bilingual in any way

  • I studied Mandarin for 7-8 years

  • I learned more Japanese in a year v. studying Mandarin for 7-8 years

    • I think I learned more Korean on my own than Mandarin too

  • I can understand Tagalog, sometimes.
