Our second morning, we attended a lecture on coral id and learned about identifying coral in the area and threats being posed to them.

The first snorkel site on day 2 was called the Tongue of the Ocean, otherwise known as TOTO. It was honestly a crazy experience that combined a little bit of nerves and a great amount of wonder. The blue was so all encompassing. If you've never experienced being somewhere with no bottom, it's hard to describe but something in your body knows it's not right. Still thrilling though!

The next 2 snorkel sites were Staniard Reef and Staniard Wreck. I identified a lot of coral at Staniard Reef. Then, we went to the Wreck and I was very excited because I love Marine acheaology. The wreck was the remains of an old rum runner ship from the prohibition era. It had been dashed upon the reef and broken into several chunks. I spent a lot of time duck diving to peak into the cracks to see if there was anything cool hiding in there. Unfortunately, there were no sharks to be seen today.

Unfortunately, visiting the wreck gave our boat some ideas. When we came back up, water was seeping through fairly quickly. We all worked together very quickly to make it to 2 Mile Beach for lunch. Fortunately, no lunches were harmed in the sinking of this ship.

After lunch, we stopped at Cat Patch Reef and String's Quartet. String's Quartet is a barrier reef site. Cat Patch is named after one of the staff at Forfar which is pretty cool and a new life goal. We saw several cool invertebrates like social feather dusters and sea cucumbers.
When we got back to station, we had dinner and then our first basket weaving lesson. Miss Anne, Miss Lorraine, and Miss Marryanne live nearby and are professional basket weavers who came in to help us make our very own baskets out of silver palm. They really are masters of their craft. I was pretty determined to do as much of the work on my basket on my own by watching what they were doing and I am pretty proud and feel very accomplished!
