This course was dedicated to exploring the relationships between flora, fauna, people, and physical characteristics on the island environment of Andros. Those words don't seem to encompass the totality of what we experienced during our stay. I learned more about culture, travel, survival, exploration, biology, geology, oceanography, and teamwork than I thought would be possible in just one week. Each person I interacted with taught me something new, and I treasure that. I feel more passionate than ever about my field, and at the perfect time. I truly cannot think of a better way to end my degree, as I graduate August 3rd, 2024. I'm so excited to get out there.
Here are some of the photos from the entire trip!
On the left is my video presentation on the ecology, economy, and culture of Andros Island. On the right is a copy of the presentation if reading is easier.
A personal note: This class taught me an immeasurable amount of scientific and cultural knowledge, which I expected. What I did not expect was the emotional connection and personal growth I experienced on this truly magical island. Part of that I credit to our amazing teachers: Dr. Teresa Greely and Lisa Rose-Mann. They gave me the space to experience and grow during this trip. And what an amazing experience it was. The rest I give rightful credit to my classmates and peers. You welcomed me with open arms, leapt into teamwork, and always made space for each of us. Each and everyone of you made this trip dear, and I will always have you in my heart. Thank you.
