GAME COMPOSER REEL 2024
GAME COMPOSER REEL 2023
I have composed using FL Studio, Ableton, Medly, Famitracker, and Furnace. You can find my works and more through the buttons linking media pages above.
Because of my interest in games with an 8-bit aesthetic, I explore the use of different sound chips for their renowned charms. I have used the following sound chips: 2a03, VRC7, VRC6, N-163, and FDS.
"Speed Save" features four compositions, composed on the 2a03 sound chip in Furnace Tracker. Below are video playbacks of the themes in their respective project files.
Main Theme
I am a composer and tech audio designer for the isometric tower defense game "Kibby Tower Defense"!
Ambient Ableton composition for a VR puzzle game's opening scene, "Into The Nucleus".
As part of SCiL Lab's first official game jam, celebrating the launch of their new learning facility, the HIVE, I participated as an audio lead for a 2-day event.
Shield Gun is an idle minigame in a 'VRcade' experience. Players fight robots by deflecting projectiles with a shield that morphs into a railgun!
Visitors
My ARVR Professor created a sci-fi VR scene that reminded me of the Half-Life series. He asked if I would like to make background music, and I took this chance to use Ableton. The result was an ambient, mysterious, potentially dangerous piece that quickly came together.

Ableton Genre Exploration
In multiple music composition projects, I composed various tunes that follow the styles of specific genres. This was my beginning exposure to Ableton, and applying what I was learning about DAWs, synth interfaces, and effects.
Two compositions from "Into The Nucleus", showcasing the use of dynamic music that compliments states of gameplay. (07:29)
Inspired by the theme "Make Me Laugh". The hard rock style compliments your encounter with a low poly chicken: A comedically non-threatening moment made chaotic with intense music!
2023 Chipjam Submission
This is a submission for a 'Fitness' themed chipjam. I experimented with the arpeggiator, portamento, and duty effects to a heavier extent using the 2a03 sound chip. These effects are handy for pushing your monophonic channels to the fullest!
Farmer Joe [FDS]
For the 2023 Global Game Jam, the theme was Roots. I tried out the FDS sound chip, adding one extra channel capable of custom waveforms.
You can find a .zip for the game here.
GMTK 2023 Game Jam Composition
I composed my first piece with the VRC6 sound chip on Furnace tracker.
The song name felt fitting for the Jam's theme: Reversal. Not only is there a word swap, but it also complimented my team's game, where rats are running experiments on a human!
I contributed to a Lowrez Gamejam collaboration with the art assets, a title theme, and some SFX.
VRC7 Song
My first song using an expansion chip, the VRC7. The instrument patches were a fun callback to one of the NES' expansion chips!
First Famitracker Song
I played around in Famitracker for over a year before making and publishing a song.
During my first semester at Shenandoah, a friend asked if I could make a song for a space-themed game. I applied lots of what I had been learning to that song within a few hours. After finishing it, I realized I needed to just start making more music on Famitracker!
SU Game Jam Composition
At the start of my Fall 2021 semester at Shenandoah, I participated in the Global Game Jam. The theme for that year's jam was Duality.
I worked with talented ARVR students, who did the programming and art for the game. I made a looping tune called "Duality Train" on the 2a03 soundchip.
Linked here is a page with a .zip file of the game.
Medly was an introductory DAW that fits in my pocket! I tried a lot of approaches to composing while using this app and the following song is my final piece before I decided to move to a computer and compose with different tools.
