The chord map below displays the order of chords in a typical progression. It has been structured based on the notes in the chords and how they create tension and resolution.
All chord progressions should include the tonic (Chord I), the predominant (Chords IV, ii, vi), and the dominant (Chord V). If you start with these chords in your own progression, you can add more embellishing chords to the remaining bass notes after by still sticking to the order in the Chord Map.
