WHERE DO I STAND AS A FUTURE ARCHITECT USING AI?

AI is transforming architecture education by offering powerful tools for efficiency and innovation. As an architecture student, I see responsible AI use as essential for research and idea exploration, saving time while improving design quality. It can minimize repetitive research, allowing students to focus on developing their creative projects.

However, I believe that AI should not replace the creative and conceptual thinking of architects and designers.

Why let AI take over the one thing that differentiates between humans and computers: Creativity?

Concept creation is a personal and critical process that should come from human understanding, experiences, emotions, and interpretation of space. These are things AI cannot come up with, since it is trained to roam the internet rather than create by itself.

I also believe that students should not become fully dependent on AI. Overreliance on AI may reduce critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and originality, which are essential qualities in architecture education and practice. Therefore, AI should be viewed as a supporting tool rather than a replacement for creativity and human judgment. After all, why should convenience weaken the creativity and critical thinking that define architecture?
