AI significantly influenced the design decision-making process by helping identify the most important issues in the original NEXUS proposal. The original design successfully communicated the idea of a wormhole connecting modern KLCC and traditional Kampung Baru, but the concept was mainly symbolic. Through AI analysis, two major problems were identified: unclear circulation between the modern and traditional zones and limited functional use of the wormhole space. AI suggested transforming the wormhole into a circulation spine that guides users through a clear journey from Saloma Bridge and KLCC, through a transition zone, and finally into the community-oriented spaces of Kampung Baru. This led to the decision to organize the project into three conceptual levels: Modernity (Level 3), Connection (Level 2), and Tradition (Level 1). AI also influenced decisions regarding material transition, user experience, environmental strategies, and the integration of rainwater harvesting and natural ventilation systems.
The outputs evolved through several stages of refinement. Initially, AI was used to analyse the original design and identify its limitations. After reviewing the presentation feedback, the focus narrowed to improving circulation and making the wormhole concept more functional. The next stage involved generating new ideas and diagrams that organised the project into three zones: Modernity, Connection, and Tradition. These ideas were then developed into massing studies, circulation diagrams, site analysis diagrams, bubble diagrams, and conceptual sections. Multiple render iterations were produced to test different forms, roof configurations, facade treatments, and wormhole designs. Throughout the process, feedback was continuously used to refine the outputs. The final proposal retained the original NEXUS identity while improving the clarity of the concept, strengthening user circulation, enhancing sustainability strategies, and creating a more meaningful transition between KLCC and Kampung Baru. As a result, the wormhole evolved from a symbolic architectural feature into a functional circulation, environmental, and social connector.
