Understanding HLPs is the first step to using them. Whether you are working with pre-service or in-service teachers, how you present this information through curriculum or professional development while providing opportunities for educators to practice them is critical? From designing curriculum, teaching courses, providing and engaging in professional development, overseeing educator preparation programs, to mentoring student teachers and evaluating inservice and preservice teachers, we each play a part in equipping our teachers with the skills necessary to produce positive learning outcomes for all children. The section below contains resources that not only help build knowledge around HLPs but will also help guide the applications of HLPs. Keep in mind that when introducing HLPs in coursework or professional development, it may be helpful to focus on select HLPs that are most meaningful to the content and applicable to the learner(s) you are trying to reach.
