The Council for Art Education administers Youth Art Month (YAM) at the national level to showcase the positive impact and association between art teachers and students. YAM promotes visual art education for all K - 12 students and encourages funding for quality school art programs.
AZ State Flag Competition
During the Year, AAEA coordinates a state flag design contest open to all AAEA members. The winning overall flag design will represented Arizona at national level events and different state events.

It all starts at conference in Tucson!
CELEBRATE YOUTH ART MONTH ALL MARCH!
Annually during the month of March, school and community organizers coordinate a variety of events and activities, including art shows, special exhibits, and fundraisers, to celebrate and highlight the importance visual art education.

Youth Art Month is a month-long celebration of the arts and a way to share the need for quality art education with others. Participating in YAM is simple! Consider doing any or all of these activities with your students and share the power of art with your community. We'd love to see how you are celebrating, so don't forget to send us a photo @AZ.ART.ED & #AZYAM!
Display student art in your district office or school and label it "Youth Art Month Exhibit." This can be on your bulletin board, by the office, in the cafeteria, anywhere!
Hold a community art exhibit at a local business like a coffee shop, library, or museum.
Invite parents to work alongside your students for the day and engage in art making.
Host a family event highlighting the arts with make-and-take booths, music, performances, and live art-making.
Invite practicing community artist to share their expertise with your students.
Give the prompt "YAM" as a sketchbook assignment and see what they come up with.
Meet with your legislators and give them a framed piece of student art with an artist statement.
Post student art on social media highlighting YAM at your school.
Have your students make art to donate or sell to raise money for a charity.
Have a week or month of school-wide YAM activities like a "Cool Colors Day" or "Art History Day" where they dress like their favorite artists or artworks.
Celebrate Vincent van Gogh's birthday on March 30th by creating van Gogh inspired artwork.
Hold an Empty Bowls Dinner.
Have students create portraits of the school staff and display them.
Make artist trading cards!
Create a collaborative school-wide project for your student artists .
