Our Story

The African Youth Summit on Biodiversity (AYSB) originated from the first African Youth Biodiversity Forum that took place in South Africa in 2020. The event was a huge success, bringing together young people from 30 African countries to share their experiences, learn from experts in the field, and develop concrete action plans for biodiversity conservation.

Where we are today

Since then, GYBN Africa has continued to grow the platform. In 2022, the African Youth Summit on Biodiversity was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event brought together over 400 young people from 20 African countries, who engaged in a series of online workshops, discussions, and networking sessions focused on the themeĀ

Today, the African Youth Summit on Biodiversity is widely recognized as a key platform for young people in Africa to engage with biodiversity conservation and sustainable development issues. The summit provides a unique opportunity for young leaders to connect with their peers, learn from experts in the field, and develop concrete action plans that can make a real difference in their communities and beyond.
