WHAT IS THE COST?

AYSB is currently free to attend. The summit organizers may be able to provide funding support for a limited number of participants who demonstrate financial need. Check the summit website or social media channels for information on how to apply for funding. However, spots for self-funded participants will also be available.

WHO CAN ATTEND AYSB SUMMITS?


The summit is open to young people aged 18-35 who are passionate about biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Participants can come from any country in Africa.

WHAT TOPICS ARE COVERED AT THE SUMMIT?

The summit covers a wide range of topics related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, including climate change, wildlife conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable agriculture, and more.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT FOR AYSB SESSIONS?

The summit typically includes a mix of plenary sessions, workshops, and interactive discussions. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from young professionals, expert speakers, participate in hands-on activities, and engage in small group discussions with other attendees. The schedule, agenda and list of speakers is announced one week prior to the start of all Summits. That information will be sent via a welcome email from the AYSB organizing team and event website.

CAN I PRESENT MY OWN RESEARCH / PROJECT AT THE SUMMIT?

Yes, the summit provides a platform for young people to showcase their own research, projects, and initiatives related to biodiversity conservation. Details on how to apply to present will be available closer to the summit date.

CAN I GET A CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE FOR THE SUMMIT?

Yes, participants who attend the summit can usually receive a certificate of attendance upon request. Check with the summit organisers for availability and details on how to obtain a certificate.

WILL THERE BE OPPORTUNITIES TO NETWORK WITH OTHER ATTENDEES?

Yes, the summit provides ample opportunities for networking and building relationships with other young people who are passionate about biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. You will have the chance to meet and connect with attendees from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

Yes! AYSB Summits are open to the media. To apply for credentials, contact us and include your outlet and interest in covering AYSB.

IS THE AFRICAN YOUTH SUMMIT ON BIODIVERSITY FOR GYBN AFRICA MEMBERS ONLY?

 No, the summit is open to all young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are interested in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. While the summit is organized by members of GYBN Africa, it is open to all interested individuals regardless of their membership status in the network.

GYBN Africa is a regional branch of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN), which is the official youth constituency of the United Nations Convention for Biological Diversity (UNCBD). GYBN is a global youth-led network of organizations and individuals working on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. GYBN Africa aims to empower young people in Africa to take action on biodiversity and contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
