In this report, it shares the Marquis data breach that was the result of a ransomware attack. Ransomware is a type of software that locks files, data, systems, or networks and is used to demand payment from the victims to regain access. It was reported that up to 670,000 people were affected by the attack, with bank information, DOBs, full names, addresses, and SSNs being leaked. 

To prevent things like this, I believe users should avoid entrusting personal information to small, unknown companies and instead choose larger, more popular companies with stronger security. 

In this article, they report on the recent phishing issue of false job requirement scam texts; particularly with amazon. These are usually texts offering good pay, remote work, and flexible schedules. Phishing is when scammers will impersonate legitimate businesses through email, text, calls in order to reveal personal data. 

To protect yourself from this, ask yourself if you had even applied for the job... usually these offers are from jobs people hadn't even applied to. Second, check with amazon first before seeing if the offer is legitimatesending in any personal information.
