HW 8: Student Choice Week 2

Analysis: LiveMap

This technology is actually something that I could see being used normally in the future. Its features are pretty great considering that it is new but there is definitely room for improvement. We didn't see the helmet in action at night so I think that there might be some issues if there is a car with their high beams going directly towards you. The write up states that the LiveMap has a better performance than the Skully AR-1 in sunny situation but I wonder it performs better in that situation. The design is well made, I think that because it was modeled after the Skully AR-1they found solutions to problems they would have encountered.

I'm not sure if I exactly agree that it is a better solution for GPS for motorcyclist. There are GPs systems for motorcycles on the market and they look like they work as well as this helmet. The helmets purpose is that there is not enough time to look at the street names in Russia but that's a bit of a stretch. They show the same exact information in the display as in the GPS it's just a matter of looking down.

There is also some small differences in this tech vs the GPS. When a driver is using the GPS system, a little arrow moves along with the map to show where you're route is or if you've gone off the route but in the demos they only show a static image of an arrow with the closest streets. See below.

Shows moving dot (39km/hr)

Static Image (52 km/hr)

Static Image (20km/hr)

At first I thought that maybe it was the speed but the two on the left show the same type of display while the left has the moving dot and has a speed between the two.
