HW 3: In-Class Review of Project 1

Review 1: Kandyce Burks

I thought the interactions with the food was pretty great and felt like I was in an actual VR game. There's one where you are working in an office and one of the things you can do is get a tray of donuts and effectively throw them at your coworkers. Your office was reminiscent of that and was a lot of fun to interact with. The way you handled having the user interact with lights was pretty genius. I couldn't figure it out but I'm definitely going to copy your technique. The fact that you used not only sound but video was awesome! And in addition to that, Rick and Morty? You know your audience. I know that when I work in an office I would probably watch that during the week. In regard to scale, I didn't notice anything that was out of proportion which is good. Everything seemed the right scale compared to the size of the room except for maybe the light switch which was comically big. The desks are also a bit thin and low. I like how there is an open space within the space which contributes to the separation of the food area and the working space. One of the most interesting things that I found was that the clock is actually telling the right time.

The overall style of the room is very feminine which is something that I didn't except anyone to make. Its definitely different, but it speaks volumes of how we usually think of spaces in tech industries. Not everything needs to have a very minimalist and masculine aesthetic and this office is more inviting. The gallery wall in the back is very modern goes well with the office. The oversized dart wall is a nice accent to the gallery wall and could actually be used as a stress reliever. However, you would have to be extremely strong and have great dexterity to play on such a big scale. The darts , I assume, would be metal and are a bit of a safety hazard. However, they could be used for in office disputes. The checkers on the table is a nice touch. Office -goers would love to play games while they eat and relax.

Great re-use of frames!

The scale of this darts game might be a bit big, somewhat harmful if used.

The scale of the light switch is big compared to the door and the food

The desks are a bit small. Employees would have to crouch down to use desktop/keyboard.

Great use of video and sound!

Review 2: Sandeep Joshi

The interactions were very fun to play with. The ability to essentially "break" a laptop by throwing on the ground 3 times was a very creative way of making something more realistic than just having a blocked object. The sound that came with moving to bottle was an interesting interaction that I would not have ever thought of. It's odd to think that there are so many nuances that go in the real world that you would be surprised not to have in VR. The hammer and fire alarm was hilarious and useful. The engulfing trashcan was a nice touch to the office. Your effort and creativity really shined. The office was a treat to walk through because so many things were able to be interacted with. The bowling was fun and unlike anything I saw in the other projects.

The style of the office was very modern and sleek, something that a lot of offices go towards. The art work is definitely great and makes the office more inviting. The plants also make the space less dreary and give a breath of fresh air to the space. The scaling of the office was pretty realistic, there were no unnecessarily big objects and the desks were the perfect size to do work. The spacing of the room was great, there's the ability to walk and go through to each desk without having to squeeze through anything

Nice spacing on the desk areas, gives ability to walk around easily
