Aspies can have a lot of problems with school. As children, we usually had problems fitting into the social hierarchy of the public education system, and may or may not have had extensive problems there. As adults, these problems may carry on to higher learning. Meltdowns don't help. Many of us spent our childhoods fighting through school systems that not only weren't equipped to handle us, they really didn't even know we existed as anything other than oddities.
Often, though, when we "find our groove", as adults we suddenly begin to excel as intelligent people recognize our unique value.
