Physical Description

Moth people with greatly varied colorations and wing motifs.

Age, Personality

Young, capricious, child-like. Very fey oriented behavior: tricksters/pranksters.

Society

Form small clutches that nest in the underside of an oppressive swampy forest's canopy. Like to lure people into the swamps to have fun at the person's expense.

Beliefs

No formal religion or anything like that. Would mostly revere some approximation/version of the seelie and unseelie courts.

Lowan Names

That Lowans choose to communicate to other species with words is a limitation they don't share among themselves. Indeed, they are perfectly capable of conveying impressions, sensation, or even abstract notions through their telepathic link. A brief moment of sensory dumps is all they need to convey an entire conversation between themselves. In the time it might take others to string together an introduction, a pair of Lowans could communicate an entire essay. As such, the names they choose for themselves tend to seem unwieldy if not outright absurd to outsiders, representing an important idea, scene, or expression of something that struck a Lowan's fancy at the moment they chose their name.

Names: After Rain, Bubbling Mire, Callous Mind, Derelict Tree, Empty Nest, Freed, Green Moss, Horizon from the Vista, etc. (No particular rhyme or scheme to this. Since they're conveying an idea or image there isn't a "native script" to transcribe, which means their names would be written differently in any given language)

Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Lowans reach maturity in just a year, but have very short lifespans that very rarely extend beyond their 20s.

Alignment

Often regarded as child-like and fickle in their antics, Lowans tend towards chaotic dispositions. Most are lighthearted in nature, while truly malicious Lowans are exceptionally uncommon.

Size

Lowans come in an impressive array of shapes and sizes, though they are relatively small compared to most of the other races. More often than not they stand under 3 feet tall. Your size is Small.

Speed

Owing to their diminutive stature and wings, Lowans are not particularly adept at traversing the ground. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Superior Darkvision

You have darkvision with a radius of 120 feet.

Sunlight Sensitivity

You have disadvantage on attack rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in bright light.

Fey Ancestry

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.

Psionic Scions

You know the vicious mockery cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the detect thoughts spell once per day. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the suggestion spell once per day. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you can't be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Telepathy

Lowans are incapable of articulating speech, but have an innate ability to communicate telepathically with any creature they can see.
