Practical info

Our vacation home is located in a peaceful residential area along the Belgian coast, just a 15-minute walk from the beach. 

The house comfortably accommodates 6 people with the following sleeping arrangements: one large bedroom with a double bed, two children's rooms each with one bed, and an attic space with a bunk bed. The attic is a versatile area with plenty of room to play (toys are available), a bathtub, and a desk for work or study.  In addition to the attic bath, there is a bathroom with a shower and WC on the first floor. On the ground floor, you'll find a separate WC with a hand basin.

The house is a row house with a ground floor, 1st floor and an attic.  In front there is a carport and at 50 m there is a playground with also parking.  At 200 m there is a larger parking lot with public charging stations for electric cars.

The direct surroundings are quiet, child-friendly, and car-free, with a playground just 3 houses away..

The location is also a perfect base to explore the Belgian coast,.  Interesting cities like Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels all within an hour and a half drive. For those wishing to venture further, Paris, London, and Amsterdam are just a few hours away.

Practicalities in short

At arrival

• It is best to park under the carport because of the blue zone parking plan (max 2 h between 9 am and 7 pm).

• With train, further transport by bus is slightly more convenient than coastal tram.  They are less frequent, but stop closer to the cottage.  In Ostend, there is a bus stop next to the train station.  Get off at Westende-Dorp.

• The key to the garden shed hangs on a hook in the orange meter cupboard in entrance (key with blue in the middle).

• Water (green tap), gas and electricity (main fuse) could be off in case of absence.  Switches in the (orange) meter cupboard.  The fridge is off (position 0) and open to air.

• The gas boiler for hot water is in the attic in the grey cupboard.  Nothing needs to be done about that.

• There is a water pump in the orange meter cupboard, just for the tap in the garden shed.  Please have this turned off.  Should you need water outside, please take it in the kitchen.

In the house

• In the kitchen you'll find the essential kitchen utensils.  The concise manual for the combi oven is in the drawer underneath.  Filters for the coffee machine are in a drawer under the cooker.

• In the garden storage room you will find garden chairs, a garden table with benches, a parasol and some beach toys.  The little garden itself has just been replanted, please try to spare the greenery (pouring is always allowed ;)).  

• You will find a radio, TV, books and DVDs (playable via play station) in the low cupboard in the living room.  

• You will also find board games and some craft supplies in the low cupboard in the living room.  Toys can also be found in the attic in the cupboards with the coloured sliding doors.

• Machine manuals and tourist information (walks, cycle trips,...) in the drawer under the radio.

• Bed linen can be found in the wicker basket in the master bedroom, bath towels in the closet in the master bedroom and kitchen towels in the kitchen under the cooking pit.  Should you use it, please return it washed and ironed along with keys.

• Please do not smoke, no pets and be considerate of the little children of neighbour left.  The neighbours right have a spare key for emergencies.

  • Refrigerator on setting 0 and open (all the way and freezer compartment) to air

  • Windows closed, curtains closed and doors locked

  • All waste bins empty?  You can dispose of your waste in an underground container in the village square.  You can dispose of 30 litres there for 50 cents (coin).
