Beaufort is a triennial art project along the Belgian coast that has been taking place since 2003. The installed works of art are either specially designed for the project or already existing works that are brought to the coast for the duration of the project. The acquired works form a permanent exhibition, called the Sculpture Park Beaufort.

With its long curved spreeds, referring to the typical helmet grass, the Warandetoren is a striking and slender appearance. From the base (7 meters) you get a beautiful view of the Warandeduinen, a very valuable nature reserve with special plants and animals. Who climbs up to the top (20 meters) can, like a sailor in his crow's nest, gaze at the horizon: Middelkerke and Westende, the vast polders and of course the sea... ship ahoi! The steel construction - a challenge for architects and engineers - was built on top of the remains of the old water tower. It disappeared but its original function did not. From here a large part of Middelkerke is still provided with drinking water.
Design: Architects Delobelle.
location: Louis Logierlaan z/n, 8430 Middelkerke
