We have an absolute favourite in Westend for a nice ice (or a good waffle): Cocorico at the dike. In summer time you certainly can see we are not the only ones, since there might be (quite some) qeue. In Ostend we can recommend team georges for a good waffle or an ice https://tearoomgeorges.be/
We are not the only ice lovers, the inspectors of Gault Millau as well. So ,if you fancy a more exquisite ice, Gault Millau can be of help. They made a top ten of places for a good ice (Ten to Taste: ice ice baby — Gault&Millau Belgium ). And yes, there are some at the coast.
Ice Ice Amy – Ghent / Ostend
After two years of research, Amelie Cobbaert perfected ice cream made without chemical additives, as even the smallest interference can upset its delicate balance. Each flavour has its own tailored recipe and process to achieve the ideal texture. You can taste the result in her parlour in Ostend – and now also in Ghent. Ingredients are sourced from local farmers, making the menu seasonal and fresh. Try signature scoops like nostalgic vanilla custard with speculoos or the limited-edition matcha coconut.

Glacier St. Catherine – Nieuwpoort
Ice cream parlour St. Catherine was founded in 1958 and took on its current form in 1985 when Patrick Willaert, the founder’s son, took over. He transformed the former cheese shop into an ice cream parlour focused on fresh, top-quality ingredients. The range includes both creamy ice creams and refreshing sorbets, all made with fresh farm milk and pasteurised on site. The queue stretching onto the pavement says it all: this artisan ice cream is simply superb.

Glacier de la Poste – Knokke-Heist
In 1967, Robert and Denise De Sloovere opened ‘Glacier de la Poste’ in a gallery on the Kustlaan, overlooking a small post office – hence the name. After the building was demolished, the parlour moved to the seafront promenade, where three generations of the De Sloovere family continue the craft with care and tradition. The ice cream is made using classic methods, with real vanilla pods and fresh fruit. A true feast for the senses, the display freezers are stacked high with peaks of ice cream, offering around 100 flavours.
