This spring, Augusta Community Sailing completed a once-in-a-generation fleet upgrade. Through the generosity of our donors and the vision of our board, we acquired six nearly-new 2023 Fulcrum Rocket sailboats, a coach boat, a Carolina Skiff, and a jon boat — a package valued at over $60,000 — for just $12,000 plus delivery.
This is more than new boats. It's a long-term investment in safety, accessibility, and growth:
The Fulcrum Rockets are modern 14-foot dinghies designed for adult learners and instructors — lighter, safer, and easier to handle than our legacy Sunfish. They're already powering adult learn-to-sail classes and club racing, expanding how many sailors ACS can safely serve each season.
The coach boat, Carolina Skiff, and jon boat strengthen coaching, on-water safety, and regatta support across every program we run.
Volunteers Dan West, Matt Nicholson, Bryan Edwards, and Doug Sides unloaded and rigged the fleet, and our instructors test-sailed the Rockets and gave them enthusiastic reviews. Your donor dollars to working boats in a matter of weeks.
This Georgia-built, heavy-duty trailer significantly improves our ability to transport, protect, and maintain our fleet of 420 boats and equipment, supporting both local training and regional competition travel. Features include a reinforced structure, mast-carrying roof rack, and expanded load capacity, ensuring safer logistics and longer equipment lifespan.
We’re grateful to our donors and partners who make long-term youth sailing growth possible, as well as volunteer Joe McMullen for coordinating delivery. This project represents a meaningful step forward in building a stronger, safer, and more scalable High School Sailing program.
This investment directly strengthens:
Youth athlete safety
Fleet longevity and care
Travel capability and competitive access
Program professionalism and sustainability
ACS's generous donors made it possible to purchase a new safety RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) in 2025—a crucial upgrade that strengthens every program we offer. Thanks to your support, we now have a reliable boat that provides instructors with faster response times, safer oversight, and improved coaching access for students on the water.
The RIB supports sailing in Augusta by offering youth programs, including sail camp, lessons, clinics, and sailing events at the lake. Together, we’ve made Clarks Hill a safer place to learn, train, and explore.
Thank you for making this possible.
