Flair Buds is my freelance design and event business. I created Flair Buds as a direct way to support small businesses and nonprofit organizations in my community. It began as a custom button and sticker business, but I quickly found that the people and businesses I was working with needed more than flair alone.
The community need for an invested local marketing partner grew exponentially during 2020, and I expanded my services to include graphic design, brand management, and event planning.
Flair Buds is founded on the belief that we are all stronger when we work together. We share our flair and we love our buds.
Positivity paired with midwestern pleasantries. Just my style.
Black + Pink + White. Branding was designed for easy adaptability.
Keep it simple, and always factor in space for nice handwritten notes.
where it began
The idea that sparked Flair Buds occurred one slow afternoon around 4:00 pm. By 9:00 pm I had designed a logo, branding, built a website, and acquired a custom domain and Instagram handle.
My very first client was the local candle man, Simple Nature Candles. I created a pack of buttons with his branding and brokered a button/candle trade on my next trip to the farmer's market. A week later he placed his (and my) first official order.
Gifting starter packs to farmer's market vendors quickly grew into cranking out hundreds of custom buttons each week. Small business owners began asking for custom logo designs, branded signage, and marketing consultations. I've had the opportunity to concept new businesses and shape the small business landscape in my hometown.
As a kid who hoarded her precious stickers and could never commit to sticking them, this drawer in particular pleases me.
My secret sauce is: tiny flamingoes, chunky glitter, fistfulls of stickers, and itty bitty animals.
I secured my first wholesale agreement within six months of starting this weird little adventure. Late nights designing Flair Buds brand buttons and creating new product offerings paid off, and I doubled my business with a curated custom collection to complement my bustling client branch.
Those little buttons may be smiling but they were painted with layers of insecurity. What if nobody likes my art? My brain spiraled at just the thought, my fear of rejection teeming in my tummy.
I proved myself wrong. Or maybe I proved myself right? Either way, it worked out just fine and I felt myself coming into my own as an artist.
Tiny parties were a breakout hit during lockdown. Packed with everything you need to create a silly little celebration, these kits sparked joy in (sigh) "unprecedented times." Grandmas were ordering them for their grandbabies' birthdays, and that's peak wholesomeness.

flamango
Golden Green Soap Co. is a local organic personal care brand rooted in sustainability. We teamed up to create Flamango, an immersive bath experience featuring fizzing foam perfumed with notes of mangoes and exotic fruits, highlighted with swirls of eco-glitter. A tiny pink flamingo is nestled in the center of each bath bomb, making the flair of Flamango everlasting.
Social hype videos and mysterious graphics leading up to the product launch generated local interest and skyrocketed sold-out sales week after week. What started as a weird word that came to me in a dream became a real product made by brand new buds.
