What is the One Health Grand Challenge?
The One Health Grand Challenge is an opportunity for students to develop a meaningful and sustainable One Health project at their university, in their community, or elsewhere. This competition is meant to challenge students to incorporate education about as many domains of One Health as possible and reach a large audience. We also encourage working with other fields outside of veterinary medicine, as collaboration across fields is core of One Health.
Three $1700 grants will be awarded and Winners' events will be highlighted in The Vet Gazette, SAVMA News, and SAVMA socials.
What projects are eligible?
The project must be organized in part by a SAVMA student in good standing. Projects will be judged based on originality, quality, depth, concept clarity, and justification of how the work advances the mission of One Health. We will also be considering the reproducibility of the project in the future.

The SAVMA Wellbeing Committee is offering funding to veterinary students and veterinary school organizations that wish to promote physical, mental, and emotional health at their college of veterinary medicine.
In light of the growing body of evidence indicating high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression in the veterinary profession, the committee recognizes that there is a considerable need to transform the culture of veterinary schools into one that is safe, promotes self-awareness, and encourages healthy living habits. The SAVMA will award 2 applicants up to $500.00 USD each cycle to student applicants demonstrating the need for assistance with a project, lecture, or event(s) that will foster physical or mental wellbeing in their respective college, on an as needed basis.
Amount: 2 awards at $500 grants

Questions: Please direct any questions to savmawellbeing@gmail.com with "Wellbeing Support Fund" in the subject line.
The SAVMA Wellbeing Committee has developed a new grant to assist students who are/were on academic probation, remediating, or in the process of appealing. There will be three recipients for this grant providing $500 per student. Eligible students must complete the form below using the essay portion to explain their academic situation and financial need. A financial need that is demonstrated can include rent, groceries, mental health resources, tutoring or some other form of learning assistance, or any other living expenses.
Any student not on academic probation, during remediation or appeal, and cannot demonstrate financial need is not eligible for this grant. In the case that a student is placed on academic probation or fails a class due to a case of academic misconduct, dishonesty, or cheating, they will not be eligible for this grant.
This grant is both active and retroactive. For students actively applying, you must be on academic probation, remediating, or appealing for the Fall 2022 semester. For students applying retroactively, you must have been on academic probation, remediating, or in the process of appealing within the last school year beginning Fall 2022.
An administrative member at each school for the applicants will be contacted to confirm that said applicant has/is undergone probation, remediation, or appeal. This will only be done by those overseeing the grant, and not those voting on the grant as not to create bias. Contact of an administrative member is not to confirm that financial need is demonstrated, as this will be done through the submitted essay as a part of the application process.
Amount: 3 awards, $500 each
