Tombstone is home to plenty of unusual buildings and locations, from the old-fashioned Sheriff's Office to the eerie Boot Hill. These locations often have as much story behind them as the locals of the town, and many are the source of unusual rumor.
You can expect to see most locations present on this list at the usual Tombstone startup. To submit your own Tombstone locations, or to view locations others have submitted, see Secondary Locations.
As the cornerstone of law and order in Tombstone, the Sheriff's Office serves the dual purpose of governing and maintaining peace within the town. Sheriff Dimes, the current head of office, rules efficiently with a focus on economic prosperity and the welfare of the local community, and is not afraid to step into combat himself if things get rough. Despite this, Tombstone’s lack of background checks for local deputies often puts the law office at odds with the town itself. Furthermore, Dimes' unusual rise to power some years ago following the unexplained disappearance of the previous sheriff occasionally invites scrutiny and suspicion from the town's residents.
Located in the heart of town and directly underneath the Tombstone Mining Museum, the Tombstone Mines are the lifeblood of the community. Unlike the nearby Scudder Mines, known for abundant coal reserves, the Tombstone Mines have been historically remarkable for their unexpected richness in silver– particularly unusual considering the region’s geology. While many prospecting groups utilize the Tombstone Mines, Blackstone Mining Co. are a particularly prominent organization– and some hushed rumors claim they’re looking for more than just mineral deep within the mines.
Boot Hill refers to the elevated cliffside adjacent to Tombstone. Once, in Tombstone’s prime, ceremonies and celebrations were held atop the magnificent hill. Now, it stands dotted with the ruins of ‘Old Tombstone’, highlighted by the crumbling church overlooking the town. While the area is mostly occupied by Tombstone’s outcasts, religious sermons or other public performances are still known to happen on the outdoor stage from time to time.
Previously Tombstone General, the plot that once held the one and only general market in Tombstone has been transformed into a corporate furniture and goods store by ATLAS Earth Rock & Gravel. In place of Tombstone General's pricey but high-quality goods, Gravel-Mart sells cheap, mass produced supplies. Many essential items residents received from Tombstone General like wood, pelts, and ammunition are also noticeably not for sale.
The Tombstone Bank is the sturdiest building in all of Tombstone, featuring extensive interior supports and structuring and a near-impenetrable vault containing the town's wealth in silver. Many have tried to break through the town's defenses and claim what they can carry of the vault's wealth, and near equally as many have died in the process. When it's not being raided, however, the bank serves to hold local currency and offer currency exchanges to travelers.
