The Crucible is the term coined for the difficulty rating that the Work Battalion brings. The Crucible is a system that allows those who have been captured by Southpoint to have a chance at redemption and freeing their characters, rather than remaining under the fist of Highride forever. Anyone may roleplay as the Work Battalion as it is an XR+ role.
The Work Battalion provides labor and manpower for Southpoint, this could be anything from manufacturing basic parts for weapons or gathering resources to fund the war effort. Work Battalion characters may be created freely. However, APTK/APTC is applied at all times. During events against Southpoint if you happen to be captured at the end of a skirmish, your character will automatically be brought into the Work Battalion. All of your personal belongings have been confiscated and distributed amongst Southpoint guerillas. You are starved, tired, and desperate for freedom.
As a forced laborer, you are at the mercy of Southpoint denizens, doubly so if you are a prisoner of war. You are only issued a melee weapon when battle calls (and whatever you have scrounged off the battlefield).
Just because your battalioned doesn't mean your stuck in the Work Battalion forever. Characters need +3 points if they want to be freed from their chains, however, -3 point(s) will warrant your character an execution. Prisoners of war who have been captured at skirmishes start with 0 points. However, if the faction they are from has achieved Vilified status within Southpoint, they start with -1 point(s). On the other hand, mutant characters will start with +1 point(s). Members of Southpoint inside the Work Battalion for various reasons will start with +2 point(s) (Things like petty theft apply here). However, if they were deemed a traitor they will start with -1 point(s). High value targets will also start with -1 point(s) or less depending on the severity. An example of the point system in use would be; a 11th Manhattan Battalion Green Rifle captured in a would have USRFs Vilified status, giving them -1 point(s), while them being a mutant gives them +1 point(s), thus, the Green Rifle ends up with 0 point(s) to start.
Points are delegated by ranking Southpoint members, and are to be kept track of on a spreadsheet. By going above and beyond and doing good work, or tasks delegated by Southpoint will warrant you +1 point(s). However, trying to escape or hiding contraband will cause a deduction of -1 point(s).
