Emerging from the remnants of Erieau, the mutants dwelling along the northern bank of Lake Erie found themselves embroiled in conflict with the Coalition. Their progress and growth stagnated due to ongoing clashes between mutants and humans. Erieau was once a hub for civilized mutant fishermen, sustaining a respected society based on trade, where fish was the primary commodity.
However, with the Coalition's ascent partnered with an expansionist agenda, the local mutants faced a precarious situation. These fishermen banded together, fleeing their razed hometown to seek sanctuary in the nearby swampy wilderness, intending to lead peaceful lives fishing along the pre-war 'South Point West' trail. Despite their intentions, human pursuit forced these mutants into an unexpected guerrilla war. Nephi emerged in the late 2140s as a response to the Coalition's forceful intrusion into the swamps, sparking a revolt among the mutants whose livelihoods were threatened. Nephi lacked a defined hierarchy but managed to unify with nearby settlements and tribal groups to resist the encroaching humans, viewed with animosity for intruding upon their territory.
After five tumultuous years, with Nephi seeing minimal progress, the Coalition withdrew resources from the conflict, signaling a tentative end to the battle. Uncertainty loomed over Nephi's leaders; lacking purpose, they debated disbandment or forging a new path. Eventually, they embraced a new identity as a micronation. Despite tribal roots, Nephi made significant strides in civilizing its populace, instituting laws and law enforcement. Some departed, but those who remained were rewarded for their loyalty with bountiful harvests.
Established in 2157, Nephi was soon approached by representatives from Highridge (whom they had held contact before, now turned Southpoint), extending an invitation to join a broader mutant confederation. Hoping for mutual prosperity and a stand against the Coalition, Nephi eagerly joined. As Nephi thrived, it attracted many human and foreign settlers, but thanks to the costly conflict with humans that had lasted many years, xenophobia and a deep hatred for humans have taken roots, leading to the rejection of many newcomers. Nonetheless, traders and caravans frequented Nephi for its products and extraordinary capability to outproduce it's local competition, despite its underdeveloped state. Nephi stands as Southpoint's second settlement boasting a formalized militia, laws, and a semblance of stability.
Spillway began as a human settlement in the late 2080s, founded by educated refugees fleeing the anarchy of Cleveland. There they settled on the Pymatuning Reservoir and met the region's newest inhabitants, mutants. In a rare show of solidarity, the humans and mutants collaborated with one another, the mutants sharing their survival skills, and the humans their pre-flash knowledge. The humans took leadership of the community, imparting their knowledge and wisdom onto the mutants, and forever changing them. When the Radstorm Era began to truly wreak havoc on the Humans of Lake Erie, it did not spare Spillway. With their human population diminishing, the mutants took it upon themselves to preserve and keep the wisdom that had been given to them. When the radstorms continued, and the mutants found themselves without their human counterparts, expansion began under the cover of the storms. They'd found humans, but they were far different than their former tutors. Many mutants were killed by human patrols, and Spillway retaliated with force. Skirmishes with local humans became commonplace, and Spillway's residents saw the terror imposed upon other mutants by humans. Spillway would do for other mutants as their teachers had done for them. Coming to the aid of local bands of mutants, Spillway drove out many of the human settlements of the region and began to continue the legacy of their teachers.
Spillway's scribes collected stories, knowledge, raided pre-war towns for anything they could get their hands on, and entered them into Spillway's primitive records. Several surrounding tribes submitted to Spillway with the promise of their tutelage. Spillyway's benevolent intentions of educating the surrounding tribes of the region were upheld by threats of violence and overwhelming numbers, when tribes refused, they found themselves pressured and forced to submit. When the Radstorm Era came to a close, so did Spillway's hegemony. Human settlement began again and in great numbers. Entire tribes were quickly dissolved or wiped out, and Spillway had grown complacent. Spillway saw its tribal subjects either destroyed or their populations fleeing into the settlement of Spillway proper. Mutants of the region barely staved off extinction. Desperate for allies, and fearing for their survival, Spillway looked to the growing confederacy of Southpoint State, and in 2158, joined their ranks, in hopes of one day regaining its strength.
Cottonwood, or the Long Point Reserve sits in the precarious regions between the human dominated borderlands of the Northeast Union, and the depopulated lands of the mutated Huroni. According to local history, the tribes that make up Cottonwood were formed sometime in the midst of the 2090's by bands of mutant refugees fleeing from Lower Canada and New York.
The primitive bogland tribes of Cottonwood have spent most of their existence extremely isolated from the outside world, only first being approached by ambassadors from Southpoint Village in 2159. Their place in this mutated alliance changed little in the innerworkings of the technologically archaic tribes of Cottonwood, only being rarely visited by expeditionaries from Southpoint itself to prove Cottonwood as still existent.
They also had a particularly minor role in the Huron Wars, where they had minor battles with Coalition forces and their affiliated caravanners, but fate did not deem the Cottonwood tribes unworthy of greatness. The arrival of these Huronis brings about a new age for Cottonwood-- which is technologically boosted by the intelligence, weaponry, and machinery brought along by various Huroni bands that discovered Cottonwood.
The appearance of proper technology in the region has brought about a complete technological shift in the settlement. Cottonwood has even recently established a proper radio station-- which has led to new discussions and negotiations between Southpoint, Cottonwood, and the various other villages of Southpoint. Today, Cottonwood's population is one of the most Huroni dominated of the confederacy, some estimating it to be at least half Huroni-speaking. However, communication between the two languages that make up Cottonwood has been noticeably difficult.

One of the first mutant settlements south of Lake Erie was Conneaut, or, as nicknamed by its human inhabitants, Stillwater. Built upon small fishing huts and reusing abandoned pre-war villas that somehow stood amidst a nuclear disaster, Stillwater's first settlers had no chance to predict its future. A small community of Native American remnants and disgruntled citizens of the now-gone United States had made it their goal to bring about a better life for the average wastelander's life, and their compassion knew no limits. Offering aid packages, supplies, and ammunition cases became a staple for this community.
However, all would change with 2105. The Radstorm era reached its peak, and mutant attacks became a common sight to see. The Allegheny National Forest was spared thanks to its vast red maple trees, but the same couldn't be said for its western outposts. Stillwater faced its first sight of raider mutants in the late winter of 2105 when a band of caravaneers, pretending to be from their western counterpart—the Spillway—managed to infiltrate through the town's gates and pull off a hostage situation. They didn't last long, as the small town quickly got back on its feet and managed to make the few remaining attackers flee.
This defense endeavor saw little success. Stillwater became prone to mutant attacks, and with time, the population plummeted. The vilomah mothers wept at the sight of their dead children; years of generosity and peace had brought Stillwater nothing but war. By 2107, the remnants of Stillwater fled east. Tales of a new mutant settlement went rampant through the tribal mutants inhabiting the forests. A new sanctuary to live freely in, devoid of human pressure. Tribal mutants flocked to this anarchic and destroyed settlement; an era of reconstruction was to begin. But it never came. Criminals and low-lives came to co-exist with tribals, and yet, despite amassing a large number of settlers, Stillwater remains anarchic and partly destroyed. Only a few homes remain inhabited, and they remain overpopulated. Nowadays, Stillwater is used as a go-to settlement for refuge from authority. The leaders of Stillwater remain a petty band of thieves that only seek out their interests—their membership within Southpoint State was only another way for them to gain more wealth.
Human caravans avoid Stillwater to this day, a foresty anarchic community inhabited by the unwelcomes. Robbery and thievery are seen as normal, and living amidst rubble is luxury.
Erie, once a thriving pit-stop for Early Militia caravaneers, now lies in ruins between the sparsely populated Coalition and NEU frontiers. Attempts to rebuild society in the urban wasteland were thwarted by mutant raiders armed with eldritch powers and deadly radstorms. Human-mutant conflicts drove away caravaneers, leading to a decline in resources and a surge in casualties. Tribal mutants from Allegheny National Forest conquered the city, establishing 'New Erie' in 2109, barring humans and enforcing a new regime.
By 2124, 'New Erie' had descended into chaos. Mutants had pillaged the city, leaving little supplies, collapsing buildings, and makeshift bridges across its collapsed streets. Infighting among tribal leaders persisted, but stability held. By 2109, 'New Erie' saw a rise in feral eldritches, forcing pre-stasis mutants into cramped sky-top living. Human raiders attempts to reclaim the city failed against the overwhelming eldritch numbers.
By 2153, the pre-stasis mutants dwindled, while some chose nomadic life in Erie under eldritch protection. Rumors of a mutant confederation intrigued them, leading to contact with isolated isles in Lake Erie. Hope for a pro-mutant safe haven soared, but initial expeditions to Southpoint failed. In 2156, Erie reluctantly embraced Southpoint's flag and laws.
Though Erie nominally aligned with Southpoint, it remains an urban wasteland and eldritch hunting ground. Mutants, symbolically displaying Southpoint flags, lacked authority. The lower streets teemed with dangerous creatures while pre-stasis mutants sought refuge in buildings turned safehouses. New Erie is marked by severe isolation. Local caravans and traders warn not to dare enter the city, and for the few who enter, they likely never step foot outside of it. The remaining populace of the urban ruins simply can't afford leaving, or have found comfort in their deep rooted isolation.
