The roleplay guide is a loose set of guidelines that members may use or reference when determining how to roleplay their character. This loose set of guidelines should be maintained when making your characters as well as when roleplaying them.
Southpoint is built upon a multitude of society's outcasts and varying settlements. All of whom have come together to form a singular state. Mutants within Southpoint could come from just about anywhere, from high-society businessmen to rebellious guerillas looking to scratch an itch.
Southpoint is extremely diverse, who typically only share the common trait of being discriminated against for their background. A brotherhood as formed as a result of this, keeping the majority of the population together in the name of self-preservation.
In most scenarios, Southpoint looks upon mutant outsiders kindly. However, anyone who has misaligned themselves in the eyes of Southpoint is likely to meet an untimely demise. Human outsiders are shunned and will find themselves largely unwelcome beyond limited interactions for the sake of trade.
Humans tend to avoid Southpoint State at all costs due to their extremely volatile nature towards them.
Southpoint remains as one of the last organized holdouts of mutant resistance to the staus quo of human nation-states. Despite the failures of previous settlements, the mutants of Southpoint continue to fight against their oppression. Opinions amongst humans towards Southpoint are generally negative due to their recent political stances.
A historical goal of Southpoint has been the domination of trade markets amongst mutant vendors. With Eden declaring war against mankind- that end of the market has been closed off almost indefinitely.
Not all mutants agree with the extreme masures that Eden has taken. However, it has become widely accepted that some form of violence needs to happen if they want to achieve their goals. While some consider it extreme, it is a necessary evil in the face of almost a century-long oppression.
Southpoint refugees find themselves welcome inside of Southpoint so long as they don't align themselves with their enemies. However, due to supply strains most aren't given many accommodations beyond Southpointers personal belongings and charity.
By roleplay as a mutant you are already at a social disadvantage against any other human amongst outsiders. Southpoint mutants range from being indifferent to their human counterparts to despised. Southpoint isn't filled with cutthroats, but years of harassment against mutants has forged a justifiable hatred for most of humanity.
The mutants of Southpoint are typically well fed and treated, resources are commonly rationed to ensure everyone gets their share. However, not too much to the point where people get comfortable.
Southpoint most commonly uses American English as their primary language, with a number of local dialects and languages being common. One of the most common is Stralian, a whistling based language created by the woodland mutants of Strale. It is primarily used for quick and easy communication. Huroni has begun to rise in prominence amongst the droves of refugees flooding in from the northwest and the Glove.
Brigadier Eden has cast aside the states propensity for cruel and savage punishment. While dissent is not tolerated as it would be in more democratic states, Southpoint opts for imprisonment, labor details, and more sensible punishments instead of outright execution or savage beatings. This is appreciated by the most veteran Southpointers who had to live under the repressive rule of Camus for years.
Many Southpoint mutants despise humanity, whether for direct experiences or witnessing the cruelty imposed upon their fellows. The specifics and severity of this aversion is up to the player. Though some hold more favorable views of mankind than the majority of Southpointers, they often face harsh criticism and social isolation from other villagers. Alongside this, the new regime often promotes propaganda demonizing humanity. Often times this is not even needed, as the stories and venomous words of particularly hardline denizens expose mutants on the fence to the evils of their opponents.
Southpoint is a settlement full of numerous professions, although in recent times, denizens have been required to take up arms for the common good of the state and mutantkind. If they do not, they are expected to contribute in some shape or form to the states efforts to further mutantkind. Refusing to work or put in the effort for the state is seen as parasitic and may lead to harsh punishments. Whether it be farming, fighting, maintenance, artisan work, or any other menial labor, all must contribute to the wellbeing of the village and its efforts to further advance mutantkind.
Denizens of Southpoint typically vary in appearance, despite sharing the similar disheveled and disparaged look. Denizens may resemble farmers or downbeat militants dressed in old Highridge surplus. Mutants do not have to look disfigured or pristine; they might have horns, missing features, or other unique elements. Deformities remain common, but are not required for your character.
