From high in the northern reaches of Relvenala, the kingdom of Previdian has often seen themselves as being the strongest of the Five Nations. While it is true that the Previdian military remains the largest, the long stretches of relative peace have caused their claim of superiority to fade. The Last War, also known as the War of Valnorian Independence, was both the last declared war fought in Astvanor as well as a war that some argue never truly ended. Contested ground south of Caevar's Stand and on the island housing the Moon Touched Grove have been the site of skirmishes and minor armed conflicts between the kingdoms.
The center of Previdian is the bustling capital of Stagheart. People have migrated from all over Astvanor to seek out new opportunities within its walls, some of them finding fortune in a thriving trade district, others finding themselves in less savory positions.
Those closest to the capital and those loyal to the Altier Monarchy have deep and virulent pride in their kingdom. However, the further from the capital one might venture, the less adherence one might find to the monarchy.
The Altier Monarchy is currently headed by King Terrance Altier, who is currently serving as the head of the Council of Seven. His eldest son and heir to the throne, Prince Edwin Altier the Second, named for Terrance's father, has begun the process of searching for a wife. Many Previdian nobles have jumped at the opportunity to present their daughters, however rumors circulate that Prince Edwin remains less than charmed by their efforts.
The Altier Monarchy has ruled in Previdian for generations. While those outside the aristocracy often consider the Crown to be little more than a series of bloated coffers and expensive parades, those within the upper tiers of Previdian society are quick to defend the honor of the good King Terrance.
King Terrance Altier has sat upon his throne ever since the death of his father, King Edwin I. Prior to his ascent, he briefly served in the Previdian Military, though it would not be until he was crowned that he would first see battle in a brief skirmish against Valnorian Forces at the Moon Touched Grove (much to the stress of his advisors).
Queen-Consort Meliana Altier set the gossip-happy Previdian nobility ablaze when her engagement to then-Prince Terrance was announced. The Kastvar-born Meliana refuses to conform to Previdian sensibilities, leading to frequent complains from advisors about the smell of incense, the length of her dresses, and the bright colors she wears.
Prince Edwin Altier II carries on his grandfathers name, and little else of his spirit. While it is long-past the time for the 27 year old Prince to marry, reports say that Prince Edwin is far too busy finding his feet in the adventuring world than he is finding a spouse. He can be found sparring with royal guards, climbing the walls of the city, or even occasionally sneaking out for any number of days on a daring new quest.
The Princess Kalia Altier is a talented sorceress currently studying at the Segwin-Farr College of Learned Magical Arts in Avisrune. Though much of her study is done through private tutorage within the palace of the Avisian Monarchy. She has a close bond with Queen Lyressa Wrenvar, and rarely leaves her company. Some in Previdian believe that her study across the Astvian sea is due to the lack of resemblance between herself and her father.
The Tessvar Forest is home to the largest clan of Wood Elves in Previdian. While Wood Elves can be found in any nation in Astvanor, many of those who travel around the various kingdoms hail originally from the Tessvar Forest.
The forest wraps around the base of the Tessvar Mountains, which also serve as home to numerous Firbolgs and the occasional clan of Goliaths.
The largest clan is the El'oron Clan, also known as the Mountain Heart Clan. They are close with certain clans of Firbolgs that inhabit the mountains and as Firbolg clans rarely name themselves, often times Firbolgs from those clans will identify themselves as being of the El'oron Clan for ease of identification to non-elves and non-firbolgs.
Elves of the El'oron Clan are excellent wood carvers and carpenters and often trade goods in places like Gulfbreeze Village and Drakefall Village. It is uncommon to find a El'oronian wood elf in the capital, but some do eventually acclimate to the city.
The Taerelen Clan, also known as the Star Watcher Clan, is far more isolated than their El'oronian neighbors - often chosing to build their homes in dense, high tree-tops. The Taerelen Clan has dedicated themselves to tracking astrological movements and signs in the stars, the Taerelen Clan have detailed and complex star charts that they use to divine futures and make decisions. Very few Taerelen elves venture out of the Tessvar Forest. They are more inclined to marry members of the El'oron Clan, or other wood elves who have traveled from Avisrune or Valnore.
The Taerelen Clan, much like their El'oronian brothers, have a close connection to their firbolg neighbors.
