Types of Amavasya and Impact on Human Life

Introduction

Amavasya, or Amavasi, is the name of new moon night in Hindu religion. It is the primary night of the principal quarter of the lunar month.

Amavasya is the New Moon day. In Hinduism, Amavasya is also known as Poornima or Pournami. This day marks the end of one lunar cycle and the beginning of a new one. The word "Amavasya" comes from two Sanskrit words: "Ama" meaning darkness and "Vashya" meaning moonlight; hence, it means the dark moon night or new moon night. The word "Amavasya" is used by many cultures worldwide to describe an important religious holiday that occurs on this day each month. In Hinduism, it is believed that all gods rest on this particular day and thus their energy levels are at their lowest point during this time period

What is Amavasya?

Amavasya, which means "no moon," is a Hindu holy day and the new moon day. Amavasya is considered inauspicious and also known as Purnima because it occurs during the Hindu month of Ashvina (September to October).

Amavasya is not just important for Hindus, but all religions believe in this day with different names such as Purnima and Full Moon Day.

Who is going to be affected the most by this time?

People in the age group of 60-70 years will be affected the most by this time. The reason is that Amavasya falls on Monday, which is a weekday. All Mondays are considered as bad days as per Hindu calendar and hence people who fall in this age group will experience some or all the negative effects of Amavasya.

People in the age group of 40-50 years are also going to be affected by this Amavasya because their health will suffer, especially if they have any chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure etc.

People who are in the age group of 20-30 years may come across some mental problems like stress or depression due to this Amavasya as they do not have much control over themselves at this age. They need proper guidance and support from their family members so that they can overcome these issues easily without any major hurdles.

The younger generation (10-20 years) might face some financial issues during such a day; however, if they remain calm and follow religious practices such as chanting Om Namah Shivay during their prayers then it would not create any problem for them financially in future too!

Different types of Amavasya

Amavasya is a day when the moon is not visible in the sky. There are two types of Amavasya, Vatar Amavasya and Pitru Amavasya.

  • Vatar amavasyam: The period from two days before to two days after the Vatara (Solar or Lunar Eclipse) day is known as Vataramana or Vataranam. This period is considered inauspicious for beginning any new enterprise or undertaking new journeys. If a person undertakes such an activity during this time he will have to face many obstacles in his ventures and may even lose them altogether, unless he has performed some kind of special puja, homa etc., on this particular day earlier in his life. It is believed that since there are no prayers being offered at all temples during this period, there will be no peace and prosperity anywhere on earth; hence it has been termed as ‘Vata roga’ that affects everyone equally irrespective of their caste status etc.,

Vatar Amavasya

Vatar Amavasya is a day when one should not perform any work. This is because the Sun and Moon are considered to be in an opposite position on this day. It is said that the negative energy of the stars will have an impact on us, so we have to be careful during this time.

The moon travels through its orbit once every month. And, it reaches its peak on certain days; this is known as full moon or Amavasya. Similarly, there are some days when the moon does not rise at all; these are known as new moon or Purnima.

Pitru Amavasya

The Pitru Amavasya is a day of deep beliefs and rituals. It is believed that on this day, all the ancestors come to visit their family members. So, it is essential for you to pay respect to them and offer them something in order to be blessed by them.

The Pitru Amavasya falls on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya (third lunar day) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase). On this day, people start fasting and worship many gods in order to please them so they can get rid of any obstacles or problems they are facing in their life. Some people also believe that their ancestors live with us as long as we remember them. That's why it is important for us not only recite mantras but also feed Brahmins on this day so as not forget about our ancestors
