Claudia, as the World
Francesca, as Sanmeria the Scoundrel
Ivan, as Dayne the Warrior
Angelo, as Cedric the Priest
Alessandro, as Usul the Wayfarer
Cedric gets to meet Little Mike. The idea is to both check on the ongoing (and so far neglected by the AC) situation with the Southern Riders and to check on his personal interests, in the form of Alyssa's caravan headed towards the DorsetShire. At first the conversation goes smoothly, suspiciously so: Cedric gets a reassuring status report, and also obtains a full refund for the goods he lost due to the Rider's assaults.
But then Mike shifts the focus of the conversation and, in no uncertain terms [Read Someone], confronts Cedric about the kidnapping and how it happened without the Guild being informed of anything, and how displeased they are to learn about it by the Patrician banging at their door to complain, with them not knowing what to answer.
Usul spends some of his free time tying up a personal loose end. He hides near the The Tamed Filly, waiting for Daisy to finish her work-shift. In that time he sees Darren go in and have words with Don Biffero and Daisy. They look, respectively, very furious, very surprised and very sad.
When she finally goes back home Usul follows her. Once she is inside, he walks up to her door and knocks. After an initial moment of fear and anger, she lets him in [Sway] and they get to talk. Usul simply explains the situation to her, expressing how sorry he is for the way the AC (and him specifically) manipulated and used her. He reveals all the details of what happened, on the assumption that anyone important involved already pieced them together: telling them to Daisy does no harm to the AC and brings no advantage to anyone else, but might bring a bit of peace of mind to her.
Sanmeria has a brief but intense clandestine meeting with Feìcita about what has been going on at court (and in the Kerrygold family) in the years she was making a life in the streets. This revealed [Read Someone] many details about how Sanmeria's ideas and expectations matched (or not) with the people she once knew: her father, her mother, her sister, how life truly was for people around her when she was little and clueless.
After his illuminating chat with Alford, and on his way back from the pond, Dayne tries to remember [Recall Lore] what he knows of relevance about Ursus.
Armed with some new info, he goes straight to the old ex-triumvir. There he is welcomed as a friend and fellow Guild member. Between some fond reminiscing, a few funny moments with the super-old and mostly deaf housemaid (Lella) and a brief musical interlude courtesy of the acclaimed CaliTafano singer (whose record was buzzing in the background) Dayne learns more about the Whitefall massacre:
fact one, Ursus ended up being ousted from the triumvirate (one of the few ex-t in Guild's history to survive the experience) because his methods were deemed too blunt and brutal by Little Mike.
fact two, before leaving the Guild Ursus was offered "the Whitefall Job" but refused; brutal he might be, but he has always drawn a line on the matter of killing children.
fact three, soon after his ousting Ben LeBrie accrued enough favor in town to make his gang join the Guild... and he always had the reputation of being a heartless bastard capable of anything.
fact four, Little Mike might dislike blunt and brutal methods, but he's also sly enough to not complain about expedient results, especially if someone else dirties their hands while the Guild reaps the fruits.
