Idea to Action: Bridging the gap you care about in education
The Asia Social Impact Incubation (ASII) program supports grassroots activists in developing innovative ideas into independent projects. Although the pandemic disrupted ASII implementation in Southeast Asia in 2021, we adjusted our program to our grantees’ needs by transferring activities online. We believe that social impact should not be measured only by project results but also by what the grantees learned during the process.
Learning at ASII takes many forms:
Project-related skills training and resources
Personal mentoring sessions
Guest speaker sharing sessions
Other opportunities (funding, learning courses, global summits for educators, etc.)
What we have learned so far?
Throughout every step of implementing the community-based projects, from idea assessment, funding, to implementation and sustainability, ASII provides training sessions to help grantees learn how to become engaged, effective, and innovative problem-solvers in their communities and to reach their full potential.
"Every experience helps me better analyze the situation, identify the problem, and compare the fact with our assumptions. I can learn from real situation and avoid possible mistakes."
"The training sessions deliver new, detailed, and easy-to- understand knowledge that help me solve the "blind spots" in building projects and writing proposals."
"The sessions not only help us follow our progress, provide helpful instructions but also are sources of motivation and inspiration."
The mentoring sessions at ASII aim to create a collaborative network between grantees and ASII mentors. Mentors will guide grantees how to complete various to-dos relating to their projects in each session. We also provide leadership opportunities and ways to engage/ effectively give back to the community.
"The mentors are professional, kind-hearted, and supportive at all times. I always feel comfortable sharing my thoughts thanks to their encouragement." - Bui Thi Phuong
"The mentors' patience and understanding have created a safe, reliable, and enjoyable space for the program, which is evident in all mentor sessions." - Van Thi Ngoc Ai
We promote meaningful experience sharing between social activists and ASII grantees; provide high-impact advising and events, and educate about these opportunities and challenges for all grantees in their projects.
"Due to the guest speaker sharing sessions, I have got a clearer view and come up with some new solutions for my project. I can see “Creation” and “Adjustment” are the keys for project implementation success." - Le Thi Thach Thao
At this webinar, you will hear ASII grantees talk about why they joined the program, what they learned, and what they have achieved through their projects. Register to join.
