Bruce Lee (born Lee Jun-Fan; 27 November 1940 - 20 July 1973) was a Chinese American and Hong Kong actor, martial arts instructor, philosopher, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and founder of the martial art Jeet Kune Do.
He is widely considered by commentators, critics, media and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time, and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films.
He is noted for his roles in five feature-length films: The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Lee; Enter the Dragon (1973), and The Game of Death (1978). Bruce Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world.
Bruce Lee died at the age of 32 on July 20, 1973. The coroner ruled that it was "Death by Misadventure." He had an abnormal reaction to a painkiller, 'Equagesic' that he had been given for a headache, which caused brain edema (accumulation of fluid and swelling).
His son, Brandon Lee, was killed by a bullet accidentally fired from a prop gun while making the movie The Crow in 1993.
