Ash was one of the few college students selected from a nation-wide pool to be a wellness writer for the publication, HerCampus Media. HerCampus is a Gen Z college lifestyle Magazine.
With this writing contract, Ash has written everything from wellness pieces to pop culture trends. Ash works two 4 hour shifts a month while additionally writing weekly assignments.
Ashlynn has learned to take assignments from her editors and complete them with fresh angles, in a timely fashion. She has learned how to appropriately contact sources, pitch, and has participated in a variety of valuable workshops to polish her writing and interviewing skills and learn more about AP Journalism ethics.
This experience helped Ash learn how to better the quality of her writing with shorter deadlines.
She had to learn to be flexible, adaptable, and do her best with pieces she might not have chosen to write herself. She completed this contract in the duration of her internship, job at the school newspaper, and classes. This experience helped her with her religion major as she further learned how to interview people who have experienced trauma and gave her novel skills to improve the school newspaper.
