Ashlynn has a strong skill set. In her years at The Megaphone, she mastered a range of genres from lifestyle and wellness articles to investigative political pieces.
She is well-versed in the AP style and the journalistic world. She can flit seamlessly between authoring funny columns to publishing serious features.
As Co-Editor in Chief, Ash edited all the newspaper articles, uploaded them to the website, organized meetings, planned mid-week check-ins with her writers, attended school events, created graphics for the instagram, wrote her own articles, created instagram reels, created interview workshops and linked instagram media back to the website.
This experience showed Ash what it means to be a leader. She was able to utilize her experience interning for a church as the head of a college and youth department by applying principles from the internship to leading the staff writers and photographers. One of these principles was implementing reproducible processes to ensure a long lasting legacy for the school newspaper after she graduated, rather than making her job description so complicated that no one after her could continue it. This experience furthered her love for writing and has opened doors to journalism for her.
