My experience of Working with Children and Young People age 8 - 18 Years
I was a self-employed associate CBT therapist and counsellor with the mental health charity, Lifelink, for two years. I worked in Lifelink's Youth Health Service, based at Maryhill Health Centre and Drumchapel Surgery. I used a five to twelve session model, depending on need, and saw between five and ten young people per week. I successfully treated many children and teenagers in the Youth Health Service with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. I also worked in a Glasgow High School for Lifelink, successfully providing school counselling to many teenagers. Lifelink provided excellent training, supervision and support that helped improve my skills working with children and young people.
I worked for a year with Who Cares? Scotland, a charity offering online therapy to people who had experienced being looked after in the care system. I saw eight people per week, using an eight to sixteen session model. I successfully treated many children and teenagers with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. I also helped the charity to obtain extra grant funding for their counselling service.
For nearly four years I have been working with Nuffield Health, taking online referrals for children and teenagers with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. On average I see between three and six young people per week. I have successfully treated many children and teenagers using an eight to sixteen session model. If you have health insurance, I can contact Nuffield Health to arrange sessions with me.
For the past five years I have worked with private clients, engaging in face-to-face and online therapy, and have successfully treated many children and teenagers with a variety of mental health difficulties.
