These rules and procedures cannot begin to cover all of the safety and acceptable use considerations that may arise while in the theater. However, there are a few general practices and policies that can serve as guidelines.Â
The theater and its affiliated spaces are unique, working classrooms that are a privilege--not a right--for students to use. They are resources for our school community that must be cared for to ensure their longevity and the safety of those who use it.
As active users of the theater keep in mind the following while using the spaces.
The control booth, catwalks (and their access ladders and stairs), fly system and wells, Stagecraft Room, closets, and dressing rooms are considered Unauthorized Areas as defined in the Student Handbook unless express permission is given to use or be in those spaces.
No one should use or encourage others to use equipment that is unfamiliar to them.
Food and drink (other than water) is not allowed in theater.
Seats must not be climbed on or over. Feet should never be on seats.
Curtains must be treated with respect.
Any tools, sets, props, musical instruments or other equipment that is present on the stage or in the theater is not be touched or used without permission from the instructor.
Stair rails, aisle fences, and house dividers are not to be slid down or climbed upon.
The rear section of the theater is off-limits during class time.
Doors should never be propped or set to stay open.
House and Work Lights are not to be turned on or off without permission from the instructor.
Students and their families will be held financial responsible for any damage inadvertently or purposefully inflicted on the theater and its affiliated spaces.
