$1.15 million RENEW grant from the US Dept. of Energy will provide research fellowships of up to $40k for SUNY OW Physics students to pursue cutting-edge research at BNL
Student researchers can join one of these experimental groups at BNL:
Build high-energy particle detectors for the worlds's most powerful accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
Help construct a huge underground detector to hunt for elusive neutrinos.
Send a telescope to the dark side of the moon to detect faint radio signals from the early universe.
LEAP-UP Traineeships include:
Two-year research opportunities for physics majors in their final two years before graduation
Tuition grants
Academic year stipends of $7200 per year
Summer research at BNL, including housing and travel and a $6500 stipend
Travel support to the African School of Physics
Faculty and Peer Mentoring
African School of Physics 2024 in Marrakesh, Morocco
Eligibility:
At the start of the fellowship, students must be enrolled at SUNY Old Westbury as a Physics Majors and be registered for at least one upper division physics course (PX3000 or higher) by the start of the traineeship. Applications from students interested in transferring to SUNY Old Westbury will be considered.
