Values Clarification

Our trip centralized around four major values: teamwork, respect, acceptance, and responsibility.
Teamwork
Our team worked together to accomplish a number of tasks including meal service, food distribution, and childcare. Our team pushed each other to work harder and make the most out of the experience.
Respect
Respect was a vital aspect of our trip, not only within our team, but within the Kansas City community. We had the opportunity to interact with members of the community in Lazarus Ministries, the YMCA, Harvesters and Avenue of Life. Through these opportunities, we learned the value of respect that we must give to everyone as well as the respect that we are given.
Acceptance
Throughout our experience in Kansas City, we were accepted into the community as well as sharing acceptance with those around us. We experienced poverty along with homelessness and school inequality. Through these experiences, we learned about different challenges throughout communities everywhere.
Responsibility
We believe it is our social responsibility to promote equality in all avenues throughout the community. We spoke with different community leaders at the YMCA, Harvesters, and Avenue of Life to expand our knowledge on the positive effects we can make on our community. We hope to continue to spread this idea of social responsibility throughout our community.
