YMCA Early Ed/ Head Start- The YMCA provides day care opportunities for low income families with children as young as 6 weeks and as old as 5. They even open their doors to children who have special needs. The YMCA works to provide an affordable and quality early education experience for all families.
Due to privacy reasons we were unable to photograph many of the activities we did with the children so please enjoy a picture of 5 ASB KC team members with their bag lunches!
Lazarus Ministries: This church doubles as a women's only shelter. Directors at the church realized that single women that had no children were an under served population among people who experience homelessness. They open their doors 7 days a week to only women for over night shelter and on Sunday's welcome everyone for breakfast and lunch with a turnout of over 150!
Harvesters & Avenue of Life: Harvesters is a food pantry that operates under Feeding America. They serve the greater Kansas City area and provide food to local organizations and families facing food insecurity across 26 northwest Missouri/northeast Kansas counties. While Harvesters operate on a bi-weekly/monthly schedule servicing across the city Avenue of Life is a faith based community organization. They provide groceries/goods to community members on an as needed basis.
The Kansas City Iowa Club joined us in service @ Avenue of Life to help pack grocery bags. Service has always been a part of being a Hawkeye!
