During this course primarily focusing on our MATLAB proficiency, we were tasked with analyzing a drum's frequency and learning to represent this information in a way others can understand.
My drum is a TEPONAZTLI, an Aztecan slit drum used ceremonially. Taking the sound and signal from the video above, I was able to isolate any background noise and move the signal to the frequency domain. Using a spectrogram and a power spectrum, the musician's methods can be represented visually. More on the numerical methods and cultural significance can be found in my short paper imbedded below.
