Our next meet is the 5A Region 3 Championship, and it is scheduled for Friday, October 24, at Jeffco's North Area Athletic Complex - NAAC (19500 W. 64th Parkway Arvada, CO 80403). The Region Championship determines who goes on to the State Meet. The top 15 individuals and the top 4 teams from each Region advance to the State Meet.
The first 5A race begins at 8:50 a.m. Course and venue maps are below. Please enter the stadium via the west entrance.
Athletes who are competing in this meet (listed below) will be released from school for the entire day. The early release time has been turned into Ms. Millikan in the main office and the absence is excused. Athletes should arrive AT THE TEAM CAMP at 7:30 a.m. DO NOT BE LATE! If you are, there is a chance you might not be allowed to compete. You might have to walk a bit to get to the team camp. Please plan accordingly (see venue map below). Please pick your athlete up in a timely manner at the conclusion of the meet. If you are picking your athlete up after the meet, I would plan to be at the venue no later than 30 minutes after the start time of your athlete’s race. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Weather and Nutrition

Please eat a light and nutritious breakfast on Friday and stay hydrated!!
Awards:
Ribbons will be awarded to the top 15 runners in each race. Plaques to the 1st and 2nd place teams.
We highly recommend that athletes do not eat fruit prior to a race. The acidity in fruit can cause stomach aches during competition. Also, prior to the race, athletes should only drink water. Gatorade, chocolate milk, and any other recovery drinks are for AFTER the race.
REMINDER - Cross country is a team sport. This is our Championship race - we do expect athletes to stay until all Arvada West runners have finished racing. If our athletes win awards at the meet, we expect all athletes to stay for the awards ceremony. This is especially true if YOU are receiving an award. Please plan accordingly.
Additional Meet Reminders
Please do not bring animals to our cross country meets. If you attend with an animal, you will be asked to leave the meet and your athlete may not be allowed to compete.
This is a school event and we will be on school property. NO alcohol, smoking, vaping, or any tobacco products are allowed.

All athletes must wear a shirt at ALL times when at our meets. Please change clothes in the restrooms, if needed.
Athletes are responsible for helping to set up and break down the team camp. Please make sure all trash is thrown away before you leave the meet and that you don't leave any items in the camp.
If there is a lightning delay at a meet – please go to your car or a permanent building immediately. Do not leave the venue as competition will resume when the storm passes. A SportsYou post will be sent when it is safe to return to the camp. DO NOT return to the camp or exit your vehicles prior to receiving this communication.
