We will have practice on Monday, September 1 (Labor Day). Practice time is 3:30 p.m., and we'll meet at the Distance Shed at the track.

The first official day of practice is Monday, August 11, 2025. All cross country athletes are expected to be at practice on this date. For the week of August 11, practice will be at 8:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. For the week of August 18, practice will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday. Beginning on Thursday, August 21 and going forward, practice is Monday through Friday after school (be at the track no later than 3:45 p.m.) and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. We meet at the track at the cross country shed.
Practice usually lasts about 1 - 1 ½ hours, but can go longer - depends on the workout. Athletes are expected to be at practice for its entirety. Please pick up your athlete in a timely manner.
We have a small locking shed at the track where athletes will be able to leave their backpacks and personal items during practice.
For all high school sports, practice and competing in meets is mandatory during the season.
According to the policy regarding practice in the Jeffco Athlete's Handbook (this is the 2024/25 Handbook, as the current year Handbook has not been uploaded yet by Jeffco): Team members of all sports are required to attend all scheduled practices and meetings during the established sports season. If circumstances arise whereby the student cannot attend a practice or meeting, the validity of the reason will be adjudged by the individual coach. In all cases, however, the coach must be notified, prior to the practice or meeting missed, by personal contact, phone call, or written statement from the parent or guardian.
Make sure to bring water to practice and wear proper attire.
Remember - before athletes can compete in a meet, they must attend 3 practices.

Registration
Registration for the fall season has closed.
Per CHSAA rules, athletes may not attend practice until all registration requirements are complete. This includes your physical. Details on how to register are on the registration site. Please read them thoroughly. You will need your student's Jeffco Student ID to complete the registration process. If you have questions regarding registration or your physical, please contact our athletic secretary Brenna Millikan in the main office at 303-982-1308 or brenna.millikan@jeffco.k12.co.us. She returns from summer break on Thursday, July 24.
Physical - New Mandatory Form
In order to compete in cross country, your athlete will need a current physical. Physicals are valid for one year from the date they are signed by your physician. If your physical expires soon - get one now! CHSAA requires a Pre-Participation Physical Form be filled out. Page 4 of this document needs to be uploaded to your account. If the current physical is still valid when you register for a sport and Page 4 was not submitted during the 2024/2025 school year, you are required to have your doctor fill out this form and upload it to your account. This form is MANDATORY.
Can't get into your doctor for a physical? You can visit the The Little Clinic at the King Soopers on Youngfield in Wheat Ridge.
Athletic Fee
The athletic fee of $185 will post to your account for payment sometime after rosters have been completed – be patient. This could be the second or third week of the season.

Fall Parent/Athlete Meetings | Thursday, August 14 - Mark Your Calendars!
We will hold our Cross Country Parent/Athlete meeting on Thursday, August 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library at Arvada West. This meeting is mandatory for all cross country parents and athletes.
Our Athletic Director Mr. Volk will hold the Arvada West Fall Parent/Athlete Meeting immediately following our Cross Country Meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Gym.
Please plan to attend these important fall sport meetings.

Sunday Contact
Per CHSAA rules, coaches are not allowed to communicate about cross country with students or parents on Sundays. Any emails received on Sunday will be replied to the following morning. Also, per CHSAA rules, only athletes and coaches may attend practice.
