Superintendent Recognition, Sept. 2021
Hi there! My name is Jenni Feidler-Aguilar, but my students call me Mrs. F. I teach PreK through 6th grade Art for Gilbert Public Schools. I teach at a few different schools, and feel lucky to be able to create art and relationships with so many kiddos!
While this page is specifically for my GPS students, I also have links to teacher resources, art-at-home projects and more on this site. Just click around!
Jenni Feidler-Aguilar is an Art Teacher from Gilbert, Arizona, who has been teaching locally and internationally for 13 years. Her students call her "Mrs. F," and she is known for her YouTube channel, Art with Mrs. F. Her mantra for teaching is "love them first, teach them second," which is reflected in her teaching practices through building relationships and spreading kindness. Outside of teaching and mentoring students, Jenni is also an accomplished artist. She is a published illustrator, whose books include I Love You Across the World and Brave in the Water. She has completed a wide variety of artwork, including public festival chalk murals, a bench in Downtown Gilbert, and various large-scale public and private murals. Heavily influenced by her travels around the world and experiencing different cultures, Jenni Feidler-Aguilar strives to share the beauty of the Earth and its people through art.
We focus on a different medium each quarter, beginning with drawing and painting. We work with clay mid-year, and finish with a variety of mixed-media practices.
We follow a quarterly schedule:
Quarter 1: Drawing Quarter 2: Painting
Quarter 3: Clay/ Sculpture Quarter 4: Mixed Media
The chart below is our District Scope and Sequence. It shows each grade level's content objective based of the Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Color, Space, Form, Texture, Balance and Pattern.
Elementary Art Grading Rubric
In art class, we grade based on effort and behavior. Students only have art class every-other-week which averages to 4-5 classes per quarter. The grading scale is:
E = Excelling (Student exceeds the expectations 96-100 % of the time)
S = Satisfactory (Student meets the expectations 70-95% of the time)
NI = Needs Improvement (Student does not meet the expectations 69% or below)
Each year, one or two students per class have their artwork chosen to be displayed in the GPS Elementary Art Show at Norwood Furniture Store in Downtown Gilbert. This is an incredible honor to be chosen, as our exhibit only happens once a year and showcases the best artwork in the district!
