BIOGRAPHY
Leith Ridley, South African-born, South African university graduate, citizen of
France, former classical dancer, film designer & decorator, living in Bulgaria.
Her styles and subjects are varied, portraits in oil and in acrylic, as well as an
original style of abstract landscape, a delicate and sometimes dramatic play
between space and movement, transparence and texture, using either acrylic
and/or oil.
‘...they come from an emotion, I want the viewer to translate what he
sees, to be able to see into the painting and never tire of looking into it.’
At present her greatest inspiration comes from the nature around
her in Bulgaria; she takes the essence of what she sees and feels and
translates it into paint...
She has been painting almost exclusively on commission or private sales until
now, since first exhibitions in Ireland in 1982, and France in 2006 and 2007
before coming to Bulgaria in 2012
