We acknowledge that our ART.FOR.CHANGE. gatherings take place on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Massachusett, Nipmuc and Wampanoag Peoples, who have cared for and have relational ties to the land since ancient times and endures through the present and future. We take a moment to express gratitude and appreciation, and acknowledge that all of us on these lands are benefiting from the displacement, removal, and genocide of Indigenous peoples. There are indigenous people and lands all over the world still under attack and while we ourselves didn’t create this issue, we have a choice during our lifetime to do something about it. We understand while these have been brief acknowledgements, they can be the start in our efforts to recognize the contentious past while seeking to understand one's own place within that history, amid colonialism and nationalism.
We invite you to join us in learning more about the land you reside on by utilizing the Native Land mapping tool and to take action to stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples all over the world, which includes supporting local Indigenous-led calls to action such as the MA Indigenous Legislative Agenda.
