A Pirates' Tales by ArtBizzar Productions
Sarturday, May 23rd, "The Temple" Downtown KCMO
Flier By Aubrey Bell
Shipwrecked is a punk‑pirate renaissance; a mutiny against the systems that have failed us, and a celebration of the art that comes after the storm.
The pirate theme isn’t just aesthetic. Once considered outcasts, pirates found their community through their rebellion and the pursuit of freedom. They didn't just choose a better life for themselves; they created one, a life outside the rules of corrupt governments and broken institutions. Pirates are familiar with the tides and seasons of the sea; they know that wreckage is not the end. They have come to ignite the fires within you all, and with them, they carry the winds of change, the myth of mutiny, and the new awakening.
Our magic is not just "fantasy"; it exists in our communities, in our homes, in our art, in our voices, in our dance, and in the way we express ourselves. We have been taught to chase material wealth, but our greed will lead us into despair… The real "treasure" in life has always been the people we share it with. This show is an offering to anyone who feels lost at sea; all are welcome here: the outcasts, the runaways, the strange and unusual, and the lawless.
We’re raising funds for our next show this May, and every dollar goes directly to the artists who make this community what it is. Art isn’t a hobby; it’s our life's work, our voice, our rebellion. I want to be able to support my team, pay our crew fairly, and create real jobs for fellow artists.
Artbizzar helps KC creatives showcase their work, connect, and build opportunities outside the gatekept, pay‑to‑play systems that shut so many of us out. Your support helps keep this platform free, accessible, and artist‑run.
