Big Picture:
There are two major projects here that will eventually be combined.
Project 2 will be to create a human, creature, animal, or monster walk cycle. They may simply walk, run, or if you'd like, you may include an acting moment, as long as the character walks at least for a part of the animation. For anyone who hasn't created a walk cycle before, it's where you animate a character running in place (as if they're running on a treadmill). Any walk cycle should only last between about 1 second (if they're sprinting) to 3 seconds (if they're walking slowly). We'll later loop that animation using After Effects.
Project 3 will be to create a multi-planar camera move for your animation in After Effects using a detailed foreground, middle-ground, and background.
Each of these two major projects will have weekly quiz-sized benchmarks assignments to help you stay on schedule.
Let's take a look at the big picture. Here are previous Student Examples of of their finished work, once they've completed project 2 and 3. They've completed their walk cycle (Project 2) and then incorporated the walk cycle into a Multiplanar Camera Move (Project 3).
These examples will largely be quadruped creatures, since they're from previoys semesters. However I encourage you to consider bipedal characters, since I've recently added them as an option (Especially if you haven't made many walk cycles before).
Other Examples
Demo Project: The materials used in the above walk cycle will be shared on Canvas for instruction.
Now that we have a sense of the big picture, let's look at our first step. This will be the same as the Dance Party Project. Create a turnaround of your character, drawing them from 3 angles. Illustrate in full color. (Here are some previous student examples)
