Hello artists! My name is Amy Prine (she/her) and I am so happy to have you here.

My teaching is shaped by a passion for creating inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environments where every student feels valued and supported. I believe that all students, regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or experiences, deserve meaningful opportunities to express themselves authentically. I am here to show that art can be a tool for creating those opportunities, where students can explore who they are, share their perspectives, and learn in ways that feel natural and empowering to them.

Throughout my time at Colorado State University and the Educator Preparatory Program, I have gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience that continue to shape the kind of educator I strive to be. I have explored strategies for fostering safe classrooms, adapting to diverse needs, and ensuring equity in every aspect of teaching. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how to create spaces where students feel seen, heard, and capable of achieving their potential.

I also bring my own love of creativity and exploration into everything I teach. My studio concentration is in pottery and sculpture, but I enjoy working across many mediums too, including jewelry and drawing. I love encouraging students to experiment, take creative risks, and discover what materials and processes feel most exciting to them.

Outside of the classroom, I’m originally from Madison, Wisconsin, but Colorado has become my forever home. When I’m not teaching or making art, you can usually find me outside hiking, skiing, trail running, or spending time in the mountains with my dog, Bear.

For me, art education is not just about teaching skills or delivering lessons. It is about meeting students where they are, giving them voice and choice, and empowering them to grow in ways that matter to them. My goal as an educator is to use art as a pathway for students to discover their voices, build confidence, and feel proud of who they are.
