Arroy (AJ) Jacob (BSc.) is a versatile thinker, learner, and leader, graduating from Mount Royal University (MRU) with a major in Cellular & Molecular Biology and a minor in Creative Writing. But his two degrees are not the only multifaceted thing about him. He has been published in editorials and magazines, including The Reflector and The Scene, writing everything from science news to the Calgarian arts sector.
He has come out with his debut book launch, Roots, an anthology collaboration between MRU students and Immigrant Services Calgary. AJ mentored immigrant seniors to help bring this title to life. He was featured on CBC Radio to discuss his involvement with the project and how deeply it means to him.
Besides writing and editing, he also has extensive experience in event programming, ranging from workshops supporting vulnerable populations to seminars providing equitable science communication.
By daylight, he is pursuing a career in community social work. By moonlight, he combines his degrees to write as a science journalist.
