Pride Centre Ambassador

Working as the Pride Centre Ambassador/Administrator for the Students' Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU) AJ had developed a keen interest in the importance of community service for marginalized populations.

His job responsibilities included:

Using trauma-informed care methods to facilitate appropriate resource referral, peer support, and crisis intervention for students who approached him with disclosures.
Staying up-to-date on current and latest information on sexual health, mental health, food insecurity, and financial aid for students who need it.
Creating and facilitating community programs and events to support students of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community find connection and friendship.
Administrated communication with Calgary-based resources for collaboration on providing resources to students or facilitating workshops.

Below are some of the events he facilitated and/or supported:

Gender Bender 2025

Provided support in designing floor layouts and event decorations
Managed 15+ performer sign-ups and requests and administration details for promotion
Managed the performance stage and Pride Centre promotional booth set-ups and takedowns. Promoted 50+ resources at tabling booths.

Crafternoon

Created weekly adult craft activities for 8-15+ students and staff.
Facilitated instructional sessions for all participants during each craft.
Promoted healthy participation among all attendees to encourage self-made interpersonal connections for all.

Sex Toy Bingo 2025

Provided support in designing floor layouts and event decorations
Managed administration and packaging of 20+ prizes for winning participants.
Answered students' questions and concerns regarding sexual health and referred each respectively to Pride Centre and Calgary-based resources.

Queer & Trans BIPOC Circle

Used aspects of lived experiences to choose weekly topics of conversation surrounding barriers against queer and transgender BIPOC students in Canada.
Used trauma-informed care methods to facilitate healthy conversation and promote peer-support for 10-12+ attendees.

Wellness Windown

Facilitated activities that promoted well-being and mental health awareness for 5-10 participants weekly.
Used trauma-informed care methods to facillitate appropriate peer support for individuals who provide disclosures.
